How To Join
This guide is for charitable organizations that want to join Give Protocol to receive crypto and fiat donations, access sustainable funding through Charitable Equity Funds, and issue verifiable volunteer credentials.
Who Can Join
Give Protocol is designed for registered charitable organizations verified through official national charity registers. Currently supported:
- United States — 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations listed in the IRS Exempt Organizations dataset (Deductibility Code 1).
Planned expansion includes organizations registered with the Charity Commission for England & Wales (UK), Canada Revenue Agency (Canada), SAT donatarias autorizadas (Mexico), ACNC (Australia), NGO Darpan / Income Tax 80G (India), Commissioner of Charities (Singapore), and other official registers.
If your organization is registered in a jurisdiction not yet integrated, you can contact Give Protocol to discuss manual verification options, including equivalency determination for international organizations.
Check If You Already Have a Profile
Many organizations already have a profile on Give Protocol, auto-populated from official register data. To check:
- Visit giveprotocol.io and use the charity search bar.
- Search by your organization’s name or registration number (e.g., EIN for US organizations).
- If your organization appears, you’ll see a profile with an Unclaimed badge. This means the profile exists but hasn’t been claimed by an authorized representative yet.
If your organization doesn’t appear in the search results, it may not yet be in the platform’s database. You can request to be added by contacting Give Protocol.
Claiming Your Profile
If your organization has an unclaimed profile, an authorized representative can claim it through a two-step verification process:
Step 1 — Verify Identity
- Registration number — Enter your organization’s official registration number (e.g., EIN in the format XX-XXXXXXX for US organizations). This is cross-checked against the profile’s register data.
- Authorized signer — Provide the full name and title of the person authorized to act on behalf of the organization (e.g., Executive Director, Board Chair, CFO).
- Official email — Provide an email address associated with your organization. The platform checks the email domain against the organization’s publicly listed website as a guardrail. If the domain doesn’t match, the claim still proceeds but is flagged for manual review.
- Email verification — A verification link is sent to the email address you provide. The link is valid for 24 hours. Click the link to confirm your identity.
Step 2 — Confirm Profile
- Review the information sourced from the official register (name, registration number, classification, address). This data cannot be edited — it’s preserved for donor trust and transparency.
- Edit your mission statement — Add or update the description of your organization’s work that donors will see.
- Upload your logo — Add your organization’s logo to your profile.
- Submit your confirmed profile.
That’s it. Once submitted, your profile enters the Claimed-Pending state while verification completes (typically 24–48 hours). During this time, the profile shows a blue banner indicating verification is in progress, and donations remain in escrow mode.
After Verification: Onboarding Checklist
Once your identity is verified and your profile moves to Verified status, your charity dashboard will show an onboarding checklist to finish setup:
Add a Receiving Wallet
Connect your organization’s dedicated crypto wallet to receive cryptocurrency donations. This should be an organizational wallet — not a personal wallet belonging to any individual. For best security practices, consider using a multi-signature wallet that requires multiple approvals for transactions.
You don’t need a wallet to receive fiat donations. This step is only required if you want to accept cryptocurrency.
Connect a Bank Account
Set up your connection to Helcim to receive fiat (USD) donations via ACH or wire transfer. This is required to receive card and bank-based donations through the platform.
Complete Your Profile
Enhance your public profile with additional details:
- Program descriptions and impact stories
- Website and social media links
- Photos and media
- Cause category tags for search discoverability
What You’ll Get
Once fully set up, your organization can:
- Receive crypto donations on Moonbeam, Base, and Optimism — with just a 0.5% platform fee. Funds go directly to your wallet through smart contracts.
- Receive fiat donations through Helcim (USD) and PayPal (international currencies) — with a 0.5% platform fee plus standard processor fees.
- Operate a Charitable Equity Fund — An endowment-style vault where donated crypto assets generate sustainable yield for your organization. (Coming soon.)
- Participate in Portfolio/Cause Funds — Be included in thematic pooled funds where donors support an entire field of charitable work. (Coming soon.)
- Issue volunteer credentials — Use Soul-Bound Tokens to provide verifiable, portable recognition to your volunteers. (Coming soon.)
- Access a charity dashboard — View incoming donations, manage your profile, track disbursements, and monitor fund performance.
Donor Nominations
Even before you claim your profile, donors may have already nominated your organization. Nominations are a way for donors to signal that they want to support you on the platform. If donors have nominated your organization, you’ll see the count on your profile page — this is a sign that there’s an audience ready to give once you’re set up.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does verification take? Typically 24–48 hours after you complete the email verification step.
What if my organization isn’t in the database? Contact Give Protocol to discuss adding your organization. If you’re registered with a supported charity register, we can import your record. For organizations in jurisdictions not yet integrated, we can discuss manual verification options.
Do we need to accept crypto? No. You can connect only a bank account and receive fiat donations. Adding a crypto wallet is optional and can be done later.
What are the fees? Give Protocol charges a 0.5% platform fee on direct donations (both crypto and fiat). Portfolio/Cause Funds carry a 1% fee. For fiat donations, the payment processor’s standard fee also applies (charged by Helcim or PayPal, not by Give Protocol). CEF vaults carry a 5% fee on generated yield, never on principal. All fee rates are disclosed upfront and are subject to 30 days’ prior written notice before any change.
What agreement do we need to sign? Charities sign a Platform Participation Agreement covering authorization, fee disclosure, risk disclosures, data handling, and dispute resolution for all donation types (direct crypto, direct fiat, portfolio funds, and CEF vaults).
Can international organizations join? Yes, as the platform integrates additional national charity registers. For organizations in countries not yet supported, contact Give Protocol to discuss equivalency determination or manual verification.
