After You Donate

Once your donation is processed, Give Protocol provides receipts, a dashboard for tracking your giving history, and tools to export your records.

Donation Receipts

Email Receipts

After every card donation (Helcim or PayPal), a receipt is emailed to the address you provided. The receipt includes:

  • Charity name and Tax ID
  • Your name
  • Donation amount and currency
  • Date of donation
  • Payment method (card type and last 4 digits, or PayPal)
  • Transaction reference
  • Tax-deductibility statement (see Tax Information below)

Receipts are sent in your preferred language if you have set one in your account settings. Give Protocol supports 12 languages for email receipts. Tax-compliance language for US charities is always shown in English as required by IRS Publication 1771.

On-Chain Verification (Crypto Donations)

Crypto donations are recorded on the blockchain. You can verify any crypto donation by clicking the transaction link in your dashboard — this opens the transaction on a block explorer (such as basescan.org for Base network donations), where you can see the sender, receiver, amount, and confirmation status.

Your Give Dashboard

If you are signed in, all your donations appear in the Give Dashboard — your central hub for tracking contributions.

Donation History

The donation history section shows all your past donations in a sortable table (or cards on mobile):

  • Date — when the donation was made
  • Charity — the organization’s name
  • Amount — the donated amount and token (for crypto) or currency (for card)
  • Fiat Value — the approximate value in your display currency at time of donation
  • Transaction ID — a link to the blockchain explorer (crypto) or payment reference (card)
  • Status — completed, pending, or failed

You can filter by time period: All Time, Past Week, Past Month, or Past Year.

Summary Cards

At the top of your dashboard, three summary cards show:

  • Total Donations — your cumulative giving amount
  • Impact Growth — how your giving has grown over time
  • Charities Supported — the number of unique organizations you have donated to

Scheduled Donations

If you have set up monthly (recurring) donations, the dashboard shows each active schedule with:

  • Charity name
  • Monthly amount
  • Progress (months completed out of the schedule)
  • Next payment date
  • A Cancel button to stop future payments

Cancelling a recurring donation does not affect payments already made. Only future scheduled payments are stopped.

Exporting Your Records

Click Export CSV in the donation history section to download your records as a spreadsheet.

The export modal lets you:

  • Set a filename (defaults to contributions_YYYY-MM-DD)
  • Choose a date range (start and end dates)
  • Include wallet addresses (optional — uncheck for privacy)

The exported CSV includes date, type, details, status, and transaction hashes. If you have volunteer contributions, the export includes those as well in an enhanced format.

Tax Information

Give Protocol uses country-agnostic language for tax-related information. Organizations are identified by their Tax ID (not a country-specific label), and verified charities display a “Verified nonprofit” badge rather than a country-specific designation.

For US-Based Charities

Donation receipts for US 501(c)(3) organizations include the standard IRS Publication 1771 disclosure:

“Registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in the United States. No goods or services were provided in exchange for this contribution. Your donation may be tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. Please consult your tax advisor. Retain this receipt for your records.”

This text is always in English, as required by US tax regulations. The rest of the receipt is in your preferred language.

For Non-US Charities

Receipts for organizations outside the US include:

“[Charity name] is a verified nonprofit in [country]. Consult your local tax advisor to determine deductibility.”

This text is translated into your preferred language.

General Tax Guidance

  • Keep your receipts. Download or save your email receipts and dashboard exports for your records.
  • Consult a tax advisor. Tax deductibility depends on your country of residence, the charity’s registration status, and local regulations. Give Protocol does not provide tax advice.
  • Crypto donations of appreciated assets may have capital gains implications. Consult your tax advisor about the tax treatment of cryptocurrency donations in your jurisdiction.

Sharing Your Impact

After a successful donation, a share panel lets you tell others about your gift on:

  • Twitter / X
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Email

Sharing is entirely optional. The share text mentions the charity name but does not reveal your donation amount.
